This is a picture of our freshly plowed fields. This is what gets farmers excited – soil that is rich and dark in color, and light and fluffy to the touch. But we’re not quite ready to grow yet. Our pH is still too high, so before we put our plants in the ground in spring 2015, we will be busy adding loads of hay and composted cow manure from our neighbor's dairy to build the nutrient and humus levels. You can never have too much organic compost.
